Improv is happening in
San Tan Valley!
Join us Saturday, Aug. 31, for a fun few hours of improv! We're hosting an Extra Large Jam at 5-6:30 where we invite all who want to play with us to join in, and then at 7:30 we're hosting a show along with our friends at Monster Improv. Hope to see you there!
What's all this?
We are Preposterous Improv, a brand-spanking new nonprofit improv theater, located in the (eternally) sunny southern part of the East Valley outside of Phoenix, from Florence to Casa Grande to San Tan Valley to Queen Creek and everywhere in between. We're just getting off the ground as of Spring 2024, but we're looking for talent as well as people who might be interested in seeing some improv!
All your burning questions will be answered:
What is improv?
Improv comedy is most often experienced as a performance, but it's not just about performing. Improv is about the willingness to take chances, to not have everything planned out ahead of time. To improvise, in other words! It can be helpful in your everyday life as you tackle work, relationships, even self-reflection! The ability to look at a situation and come up with a new take on it is invaluable.
But it's also (seeing as this is an improv troupe) about performances! A group of improvisers gets together and makes up a show that's never been seen before and will never be seen again, often on the basis of suggestions from the audience. It's a ton of fun.
Where is this nonsense?
There are lots of great improv theaters in north-ish Phoenix and Tucson, and we're all out here alone in the Great Barren Middle. We don't have a permanent home base as of yet - we're thinking of ourselves as more roving troubadors for the time being.
